Lupa Terms of Use

These terms explain the conditions for using Lupa. They are short on purpose. By using Lupa, you accept them.

1. What Lupa is

Lupa is a macOS app, developed by Sergio Abad, that analyzes the folders or the disk you choose and shows you what is taking up space: a summary, the largest files and folders, a breakdown by type, a visual map and cleanup suggestions.

2. Read-only

Lupa runs with read-only permission inside Apple's App Sandbox: it can't delete, move, rename or modify your files. Its only actions on a file are “Show in Finder” and “Copy Path”.

3. What you delete is up to you

If you decide to delete something, you do it yourself, from the Finder or with other tools. You are responsible for what you delete. Before deleting, make sure you don't need it or that you have a copy.

4. Suggestions are guidance only

Lupa's suggestions help you decide what to review, but they are for information only: they don't guarantee that a file can be deleted without consequences. The same applies to explanations written with artificial intelligence, if you turn it on. Always review before deleting.

5. Copies in Google Drive or Dropbox

If you connect Google Drive or Dropbox, Lupa can upload a copy of the files you choose and checks that the copy matches the original. Even so, keep the original until you are sure the copy works for you. Uploading a copy doesn't delete anything from your Mac.

6. Third-party services

Google Drive, Dropbox and Groq are third-party services that only come into play if you turn them on. Their use is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and any cost, limit or change to those services depends on them, not on Lupa. If you use Groq, you do so with your own API key.

7. No warranties

Lupa is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by applicable law. There is no guarantee that it will work without errors or that its results will be accurate in every case.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sergio Abad will not be liable for any damage arising from the use of Lupa or the inability to use it, including the loss of data from files you have deleted.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you that cannot be excluded by contract.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute will be submitted to the courts that have jurisdiction under those laws.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. We will publish the new version on this page with its update date. If you keep using Lupa after a change, we will take it that you accept the new version.
